Teeth in a day
The 'all on 4' treatment in Surrey
For those looking for an alternative to ill fitting dentures, we are able to provide a procedure commonly known as ‘all on 4’ or ‘teeth in a day’. This procedure makes use of the latest in dental implant techniques to provide a strong and secure option for those who don’t want the inconvenience and discomfort of dentures.
By placing just 4 dental implants into the patient’s jaw, a fixed bridge can be attached which is then left in place and can be cleaned in the same manner as natural teeth. This provides not only a more comfortable option than dentures but one that is much more convenient too.
The Procedure
Prior to the procedure, a consultation is necessary to discuss the procedure with you and also for x-rays and scans to be taken. This will help to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for dental implants as well as locating the exact positions that the implants are to be placed. On the following appointment, after the administering of a local anaesthetic, the dental implants will be placed into the jawbone.
The front two of these are standard dental implants whilst the two that are placed at the rear are specially designed to be placed at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. This ensures extra stability as well as making them suitable for those with eroded bone structure. In some cases, it may be necessary for an additional two implants to be placed but this will be determined and discussed beforehand.
Once the implants have been placed, a fixed bridge will be securely attached and you will be able to leave our dental practice just a few hours after you entered but this time with a brand new set of teeth.
Aftercare
Once fitted, you should be able to eat and function as you would with natural teeth. It may be wise for a short period afterwards though to eat softer foods until you have become accustomed to the new fixed bridge an any initial soreness has subsided. This is for your own comfort and will enable you to get used to your new teeth gradually. Naturally, you will need to clean them and also visit the dentist for check ups at regular intervals to ensure that any potential issues are spotted as soon as possible.
